Southeast Health District Urges Residents to Report Handling of Raccoon

If you have or someone you know has recently handled a raccoon in the parking lot of a feed store along Highway 82 near the Brantley/Ware County line, your health may be at risk, and you are in urgent need of further evaluation. A timely response is required to receive proper treatment, please contact a public health official at (912) 670-1249, (912) 548-2620 or (912) 218-2428.

As a reminder for everyone, we encourage our community to avoid handling, feeding or unintentionally attracting wild animals to you, your home or your yard. Never handle unfamiliar animals, wild or domestic, even if they appear friendly.
