Please read the following as it applies to our entire district’s forecast for the next several days. These forecasted temperatures and heat indexes are considered potentially life-threatening.
As of 12 PM on 7/25/2025 –
Communities in Southeast Georgia should prepare for dangerous heat conditions this weekend through the middle of next week.
WHAT TO KNOW:
- Temperatures will soar to 92–102°F across most areas.
- Expect RECORD or NEAR RECORD high temperatures. Monday is expected to be the hottest day of the period.
- With the humidity, extreme heat indices of 107–118°F increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.

WHAT TO DO:
- Avoid prolonged outdoor exposure – stay indoors during peak heat.
- Find cool shelter and use fans or air conditioning.
- Stay hydrated – drink water even if you’re not thirsty.
- Check on the elderly, children, and pets – they are especially vulnerable.
- Never leave kids or pets in vehicles – LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK!
SAFETY TIPS:
- Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
- Use sunscreen and wear a hat and sunglasses.
- Take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors.
- Limit strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day.
